The Requiem Mass had quite a lot of music, so much so I initially felt it might be more of a concert than Mass. However, everything had been carefully thought out by the family, and it worked wonderfully.
Here's the Requiem Mass Order of Service
Blessing of the coffin:
Communion funeral solos:
Final funeral hymn:
You raise me up
May the road rise to meet you
This is a lovely sung version of the Irish blessing by Lori True
The Lord is my shepherd
I sang the wonderful version by Howard Goodall, yes the Vicar of Dibley theme!
The beatitudes reading - I do like this
"When all the others were away at Mass"
Sonnet 3 from Clearances by Seamus Heaney. This was a lovely heartfelt poem and most appropriate for a Roman Catholic funeral.
Be thou my vision
The same tune as Lord of all Hopefulness, a popular hymn for Catholic funerals
How great thou art
'Maggie' sung by Foster and Allen
Played on a CD.
