Funeral Music Chart for 2018

18/1/2019

Chart for funeral songs
We’ve totted up the numbers for 2018 and there were a few new entries into out chart list.

The composers or our chart toppers this year are separated by over 240 years. Goes to show if you get the tune right it will quickly become and remain a favourite for many and these men have that magic that makes a good tune!
Still no1 as the most popular funeral song we sing is Schubert’s Ave Maria. As well as because it’s a beautiful piece of music I think it’s so popular for many as it was a very popular for wedding’s in the past.

Our surprise new entries : ‘Bring him home’ and ‘The fields of Athenry’ were requests for families that hit the spot for others as well and swiftly made their way onto our list.

Who made the climb?

The chart climbers this year were the hymns, it’s always interesting to see what hymns catch people’s attention.
  • ‘Make me a channel of your peace’ jumped from 23rd in 2017 to 3rd for 2018
  • Praise my soul the King of heaven jumped from 62 to 8
  • Dear Lord and father of mankind skipped up from 38 to 20 just making the chart cut-off

Top funeral hymns & funeral songs in 2018?

  2. Pie Jesu - Lloyd Webber
  3. Make me a channel of your peace

  16. Lord of all hopefulness
  17. The fields of Athenry

  19. Panis Angelicus
  20. Dear Lord and Father of Mankind
I must admit some of these are my favourite funeral hymns and funeral solos as well. But there are still quite a few that didn’t make the top spots, but I love singing them too.

That’s the joy of funeral singing, with so much music to choose from and families have their special songs, we’re always singing new music and adding them to our charts!

If you’d like us to sing at a funeral service, call us or send an email.
Everyone was completely mesmerised by your singing and we could not have asked for anything more. I still have goose bumps now remembering how you sung 'Pie Jesu' and 'Ave Maria', as well as  all the hymns you led and sang beautifully. …Once again thank you from the bottom of my heart. You really did my father proud and I will never forgot you singing those pieces of music in his memory. These memories are now engraved into my heart and remembered forever.
JP, father’s funeral. St Jospeh's Catholic Church, Maidenhead
